Terms & Conditions

PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONAL/SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES APPLY DUE TO Covid-19 IMPLICATIONS. Full details will be supplied on request and at time of booking.

The following terms and conditions represent the basis upon which training is offered by Trudi’s School of Motoring. By accepting driver training with Trudi’s School of Motoring, the driver is agreeing to these.

TUITION: Trudi’s School of Motoring Driver Trainers abide by a Professional Code of Practice. You can find details here – http://www.gov.uk/adi-voluntary-code-of-practice

Tuition is only available if:
• You’re aged 17 or over, or aged 16 or over and receive the higher rate of Disability Living Allowance (mobility component),
• Hold a valid UK provisional driving licence.
• You satisfy the requirements of medical fitness to drive including compliance with the regulations for eyesight.
• Are legally entitled to drive in the UK.

INSURANCE: Fees include trainee's cover for insurance liability claims whilst driving the school's vehicles providing the trainee is duly licensed to drive and is accompanied on test by a DVSA examiner or under direction of an Approved Driving Instructor.
The use of the driver’s car is at their own risk. Trudi’s School of Motoring and their trainers will not be held responsible for any damage or accident, whether that is caused by the driver or not.

The car must be:
• Legally roadworthy, taxed, insured and with a valid MOT where appropriate.
• Insured for the use of the instructor to give professional tuition and confirmed in writing.

LICENCE: Prior to your first lesson you must present your Trudi’s School of Motoring trainer with the code necessary for them to check your driving licence. They will give you the details necessary to do this. They may also need to check it periodically throughout your tuition period. You must notify your trainer of any matters which affect your ability or entitlement to drive.

FITNESS TO DRIVE: It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure they are fit to drive. The driver must ensure they do not drive under the influence of drink or drugs. Be aware that some prescription and over the counter medicines can cause drowsiness.

PAYMENT: You must pay for any tuition at least 3 full working days before the start of the lesson. You can use one of the following methods:
• Payment by bank transfer direct to Trudi’s School of Motoring. Details available on request.
• Payment by cash direct to your instructor, Trudi Boyce.
• Payment by Trudi’s School of Motoring gift voucher
• For new starters please note that the first payment will be due 10 days before the first booked session to secure a place in the diary.

PRICES: Please note that these are subject to periodic review, but at least one month’s notice will be given of any changes.

CANCELLATION OF LESSONS: If you or your trainer want to cancel a lesson, a minimum of 48 hours’ prior notice should be given. If your instructor cancels a lesson without giving this, they’ll rearrange the lesson. Cancellations made by you must be given directly between you and your instructor by text or phone call to 07967 188 987.

Whilst every care will be taken to ensure clients receive the training requested at the arranged time as booked, all bookings are made on the undertaking that the school is not responsible for the postponement of training due to adverse weather conditions, mechanical breakdown of equipment, absence of instructor due to illness etc.

If you don’t give this notice of cancellation, you’ll be charged for the lessons concerned in full. In the event of you having booked your driving test, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) requires you to give three clear working days to cancel your test. Failure to do this will mean that you will lose your DVSA test fee.

REFUND POLICY: You can cancel your pre-paid tuition at any time (see ’Cancellation of lessons’ above). If you haven’t taken any lessons at the time of cancellation, you’ll be entitled to a full refund subject to these points:
• Refunds may take up to 10 working days to reach you or your account,
• Refund of partial block bookings will be made pro rata on any lessons not taken, calculated at the full hourly rate applicable at the time of cancellation. A £10 administration fee will be deducted to cover costs.  Please see footnote regarding cancellation policy for intensive courses (10 hours or more booked in one week)

TRANSFERABILITY OF LESSONS: You cannot sell or transfer lessons which have been purchased in your name to any other person.

DRIVING TESTS: The instructor reserves the right to refuse the use of their car for a practical driving test, if the driver has not reached a sufficient level of competence.

Practical driving tests will be arranged by your instructor once agreement is reached regarding readiness for test. No responsibility can be taken by Trudi’s School of Motoring for tests booked when the instructor is not available.
Your trainer cannot be held responsible for test appointments cancelled by the DVSA due to bad weather, sickness, staff shortages or other reasons. Such cancellations are beyond their control and therefore lesson fees will still be charged.

PERSONAL PROPERTY: Naturally every endeavour is made to safeguard the property of any trainee, but we point out that the school accepts no liability whatsoever for jewellery, clothing, cash, mobile phones or other property that may be left in the training vehicle.
